In the News

The first thing my DH likes to do when he gets home from work (after of course he greets me and gives me a kiss) is turn on the TV. I don't watch TV during the day while he is at work (got to many other things to do) and I like the quiet. He likes to watch the news. Those of you that know me, know that I am not one for news. I don't like all the negative stories... like, crime and deaths and I especially am tired of hearing about the political candidates that are running for president. But today while the news was on and I was finishing dinner, I heard something that just...I don't know...SHOCKED me for lack of a better word.
My all time favorite AI contestant CLAY AIKEN is going to be a daddy!! My first thought was, OK he does like people of the opposite sex. THEN...I heard the rest of the story! It's Jaymes Foster, age 50, a record producer and Clay's best friend. And the thing that got me the most was she was artificially inseminated!
Call me crazy...but does anyone else see the age old adage of :
"If the shoe fits, Wear it"!!

No Drama Here

Ok..so many of you want an update to yesterday's post. To some it may be boring (if you were looking for more drama stop reading now). He did call the area manager. Basically he said that the manager had told him what had happened (why the store manager needed to call him is beyond me, unless he knew maybe my husband was going to be calling him), and that he didn't feel that anything went wrong on the manager's part! He said that he hadn't spoken with the server yet to get her side of the story (naturally), but that if we wanted to, we were welcome to come back in and have a free meal! Ummm, no thanks my husband said. You are missing the point, he said, which is that the manager totally ignored him when he was trying to talk to him in the restaurant. To that he said nothing, other than he kept offering a free meal. I for one am grateful that the buck stopped there...as I would have hated for him to keep this going. So that's it...no more drama...no more phone calls, and no free food. (which didn't agree with me or my husband in the first place).

Geez, he truly is getting softer in his old age...THANK GOODNESS!!

My DEAR Husband

This is my dear, kind, giving, thoughtful, stubborn, opinionated, spiritual, husband. Over the past almost 32 years that I have known him, he can be like a box of chocolates; you never know what chocolate (person(s))you are going to get.

You know the ones...Sybil, Dr. Hekyll, or Mr. Hyde.

And last night, he was in one of those MOODS! You know...he starts off one way; and then something happens...and before you know it...you are like WHICH.ONE.ARE.YOU?

Now, don't get me wrong...I LOVE HIM DEARLY! But sometimes, I am like...can I just be swallowed up...NOW!!

Last night while at dinner with my oldest daughter, A, and her husband DS, my husband was in a "weird" mood and starts making, for lack of better words, "RETARDED" comments to our server. She was young, opinionated, and a talker! (do you see where I am going with this)! My husband is usually, quiet, reserved and doesn't talk with strangers, especially servers at restaurants. After several little conversations, about different things during our dinner, towards the end of our dinner she is putting mine and my daughter's leftovers in boxes....

AND THEN THE FUN BEGINS!!
Out of nowhere she starts talking about the FLDS group!! Now it wasn't so much the topic that was the problem, but it was the length of the conversation...because she just kept talking, and talking; loud enough for us and everyone around us to hear it. And so during this (what seemed like 5 mins) convo between him and her, the manager walked by and said to her, "Table so and so is waiting to have their order taken". Well my DH tried to tell him that he was sorry and that she had done a fine job of serving us...and HE.JUST.KEPT.ON.WALKING.AWAY! (OH NO HE JUST DIDN'T)! YEAH HE DID! Those of you that know my DH, T, know that YOU DON'T WALK AWAY FROM HIM WHEN HE IS TRYING TO TALK TO YOU...ESPECIALLY A STORE MANAGER!!
So, that just started the blood boiling...and he was like...where is he...I am going to say something! And me, my daughter and my son-in-law knew;
YOU'D BETTER TAKE COVER; CAUSE HE'S ABOUT TO BLOW!
AND IT AIN'T GONNA BE PRETTY!!
THANKFULLY, he has learned to listen to me somewhat, so I said...PLEASE DON'T!! NOT HERE!
So he paid our bill to our server and tried to talk to her..but he could tell that she had been reprimanded in back, so she wasn't as friendly as she had been during the whole time that she had been our server. He got up from the table and started walking toward the front of the restaurant, right by the store manager, and again tried to talk to him...BUT.HE.IGNORED.HIM! (Come on buddy, do you have a BRAIN!)
That just added fuel to the already lit fire!!
He thankfully, (see he has learned something from me) kept walking to the front of the restaurant and got the store managers name and an 800 number for him to call and file a complaint! The car ride home was very quiet, except for the radio. (I have learned, it's better to say nothing, than just small talk, when he has almost lost his top!!) Didn't say anything about it the rest of the evening. Watched AI, and the DWTS, and then went to bed and read. So I thought nothing more of it!
Well, this AM getting ready to walk out the door for work...he says, "oh yeah, I almost forgot the most important thing of the day, this". (It was a folded up piece of paper). I said, (not remembering the event from last night), what's "this"? He said, "It's my important phone call I have to make today". I said, "huh?" He said, yeah, the Regional Manager's phone number to "Carrabas"; I've got a few things to say to him!!
All I can say is...LOOK OUT WORLD; THERE HE BLOWS!!

A Few Things I've Learned

Although these are not my orginal thoughts; there a some of these that I have learned!

And they.weren't.easy.to.learn!

I've learned that, no matter what happens, How bad it seems today, life does go on,
and it will be better tomorrow.

I've learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles four things:
A rainy day, the elderly, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights.

I've learned that, regardless of your relationship with your parents,
You'll miss them when they're gone from your life.

I've learned that making a 'living' is not the same thing as making a 'life..'

I've learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance.

I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both hands.
You need to be able to throw something back.

I've learned that if you pursue happiness, it will elude you
But, if you focus on your family, your friends, the needs of others,
Your work and doing the very best you can, happiness will find you.

I've learned that whenever I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision.

I've learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one.

I've learned that every day, you should reach out and touch someone. People love that human touch -- holding hands, a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back.

I've learned that I still have a lot to learn.

Nana and her babies

This was taken today at my daughter A's house. The oldest is DJ, who will be 4 in June. Then my son's son, B, who will be 1 in July. And last but not least is my precious baby girl, A, who will be 1 in Sept. Even though I only have 3 for now (number 4 will be here in December by my daughter, J)

These are the good ole days

I have been lax to say to least, in posting lately! Too much going on...not enough hours in the day!! (I know we all have the same amount of hours in a day) Anyway, I was scrolling through my pictures on the computer and came across this one. I miss those days, even though at the time...I thought I wouldn't. I don't remember when this was taken...but I think my three oldest were married at the time...(I am sure my kids will know)!

So be careful what you wish for...one day, before you know it, it will happen....they'll be gone.

Into Everyone's Life a little Rain Must Fall

Rain.

Sometimes it's a light drizzle. You may get caught out in it and not have the necessary gear. You get a little wet. But it's ok...it's just a little rain.

Or you can know it's going to rain. You have your umbrella and gear, so you put it on before you got out in it. To help you; so you don't get drenched.

Other times, it can be a down pour. Even though you have your gear, you don't have time to get it on. It can just pop up out of no where and you get caught in it. So you get drenched.

A year ago, yesterday, it was a down pour. We were expecting it; so we were prepared. My DH's father died. He had been sick for a while, so they were prepared for his passing. Although it was not easy for his family, they had their gear and had time to put it on. They were prepared.

Yesterday my niece, C, after a long process of labor, delivered a baby girl at
6:33pm. C and the baby both had (have) complications. We were not prepared for this down pour. Even though we now have our necessary gear and are ready to deal with the rain, it just popped up out of now where. This was one of those unexpected showers.

Rain. Into everyone life's, a little rain may fall. Sometimes when you least expect it. I'm just glad we have our gear.

AIN'T WE BAD!!

Ok..Ok...I finally am giving in...(it took me a while)!! My twin sister (we like to tell people we are brothers when asked if we are twin sisters to mess with them) has been wanting me to join the world of blogging for a while now! And for many reasons that I won't go into...I finally agreed!! Just like with the outfits we have on in this lovely picture. Because it looked good on her...she talked me into getting one just like her...even though I don't look the same in the outfit! And since I knew it was our senior year, and moma had always dressed us in coordinating outfits, (she made us most of our clothes growing up), I decided to get one too...you know if it looks good on her...it MUST look good on me!! RIGHT!! (bet you can't guess which one is which??)
So here I am folks, in all my glory!! (NOT REALLY).
Wonder what else she will get me to give into!!?!!?
